FiledOnTime vs BrightManager

BrightManager is a practice management suite for accountants, part of the Bright group. It covers client records, workflow, task management and integrations with Companies House, alongside the rest of the Bright product range.

FiledOnTime is a single-purpose deadline tracker. It does not manage your workflow, your jobs or your client records.

The honest framing: if you are buying a practice management system, buy a practice management system. FiledOnTime is for firms that do not want one, or that want deadline coverage without changing how the rest of the practice runs.

When BrightManager is the better choice

  • You want one system for the whole practice: clients, jobs, workflow, time and deadlines together, with everything in one record.
  • You already use other Bright products and want them joined up.
  • You need task assignment and workflow states across a team, which FiledOnTime does not attempt.

When FiledOnTime is the better choice

  • You do not want to migrate your practice onto a new system to stop missing confirmation statements. FiledOnTime sits alongside whatever you already use.
  • You want to be up and running in an afternoon. Add companies by number, and the deadlines are there.
  • Price. FiledOnTime starts at £5 a month, which is a different order of cost from a full practice management suite.
  • ECCTA verification tracked per director and PSC, read from the register where Companies House publishes the status.

Pricing

BrightManager is sold per practice rather than at a published list price, so ask Bright for a current quote. It is a different category of spend from a single-purpose tracker.

FiledOnTime is £5 a month for three companies, £19 for twenty-five with three seats, and £99 for unlimited. Extra companies and seats can be added to a plan rather than forcing an upgrade.

We could not confirm BrightManager's current pricing from their public pages, so we have not quoted a figure. Ask them directly rather than taking a number from a comparison page, including this one.

Common questions

Does FiledOnTime replace BrightManager?
No, and it is not trying to. BrightManager runs a practice. FiledOnTime tracks statutory deadlines. If you need workflow, jobs and client records, you need a practice management system.
Can FiledOnTime sit alongside a practice management system?
Yes. That is the common case: the practice management system runs the work, and FiledOnTime is the safety net that shouts before a filing date passes.

Try it against your own client book

Add a few companies by number and see the deadlines appear. If it is not a better fit than what you have, you will know quickly.
